The UniversalFit LED tubes are a replacement for the previous magnetic ballast-compatible InstaFit LED tubes. The previous generation (20T12 EM LED/48-XXXX IF G 10/1) was only compatible with the magnetic ballast. Magnetic ballasts have been discontinued, so when the old ballast stopped working, the tubes were no longer usable.
With the new 16T8/LED/48-840/UF18/G (539972) tubes, they are compatible with the newer electronic ballasts on the market, which means you can get the full 36,000 hour life out of the tubes.
